WHY Men and Women can Never be FRiends: MALE PERSPECtive
Soooo, i guess its better to clarify this post, this is from a males perspective... but as they say, you need 2 people to be in a relationship, sooo if one person is in a relationship and the other person is not in a relationship, then it isnt considered a relationship.
im posting this later than i woulda liked.... but you know the same ol excuse im about to give, "i was Busy"... lol. Sooo happy New Month i guess. I dunno February just seemed extra long (duhhhh leap year), i guess it gave us one more extra day of black history.
My last post was intentionally intended to be a short post, but for some reason, my fingers wouldnt let me stop typing. maybe that was just an early april fools for all my readers.... sooo April Fools then. what can i say, i guess im just that revolutionary and rebellious, April fools in February, Genius idea. i should patent that idea. "Thats Hot" #paris.hilton.voice.
now i swear this post is actually short, no tricks up my sleeve. #evilgrin
Soooo, on to the topic, I dont believe men and women can ever really be friends, at least not in the sense in which i describe and understand friendships. i know alot of females would be like, im talking that Bullshit, and they would probably say "But im a female, and i have a lot of Male friends" and to that i answer.....WRONG, you are a female and you have a lot of Males who would sleep with you if you ever gave them the chance too.
you might answer, "but im not going to sleep with them, so that makes us just friends" and if you say that, that just proves my point. Because my understand of being friends with someone means that there is a platonic interest and relationship budding from both sides of the aisle, the fact that your male "friend" wants to sleep with you, means that it isnt plutonic on both sides of the aisle. If you had a female friend, and you guys were just friends, and she told you or expressed to you, that she wants to sleep with you, as a female, would you guys still be "friends"... i know it would change the dynamics of the friendship.
Just like how you cant be in a relationship successfully, if one party is not participating in the same relationship that you choose to participate in. Soooo, if you are a girl, and you are in a friendship with a guy and the guy has ulterior motives, then you cant be in a friendship sooo to speak.
i mean, think about it, you cant be a female and think about sleeping with your female friends (Exception is lesbians) and if you happened to be thinking about sleeping with your female friends and you were a female, then im almost certain your female friends would stop being labelled your friends, so if that the case for female-female friendships, that has to be the case for female-male friendships. #imjustsaying.
What i can say for certain is that
As i guy (i cant saying that im speaking for all Guys), i hardly make acquaintances or sustain correspondence with females i find unattractive, soo that means that there is a high probability that when im meeting a new girl, the likelihood that i would ever want to keep in touch would be probably because she is attractive, Guys dont go over/across the room to introduce themselves to ugly ass girls, yes their personalities might be the Bomb, but we are visually stimulating creatures, if a girl is ugly, we aren't that enthusiastic about the introduction and sustenance of correspondence. Ergo that is why i feel 95% of Male-Female friendships are not true friendships, they are friendship that are just circumstantial because the Male liked the Female, the Female told the male "lets just be Friends" and the male figured he would stick around as a friend until she opens her Eyes and see him as more than a friend (though in actuality, the Guy usually gets stuck in the friendZone). too me, i think this is how 95% of all Male-Female friends are composed of.
i am not suggesting that there are no True male-female friendships, i do think there exist, but there arent that much prevalent. the situation is usually two things, its mainly that the Guy doesnt find the girl attractive at all (Basically, he thinks the girl is Fat or Ugly or Both) and the other situation of Male-Female friendships are composed of Gay inter-gender Relationships, like Gay Guy and Straight girl...
If you think Guys and Girls could be friends and it could truly exist, i have one final Question for you...
Would you let your Boyfriend spend hours at a time alone with another girl (that he claims is his friend) and you wouldnt be suspicious or Jealous about it?
Well this is my 2 cents and my Opinions.... tell me what you think in the comments section
and lastly, i have been promising Poetry for awhile now so here you guys go
Poem
Everytime i wake up
it always feels like im on the dark side of the moon,
as we have oscillated
from friends to lovers to friends back again
i have threatened my heart im moving on without it
but my heart recognizes my threats are empty as air
as it unwilling belongs to her
indefinitely
with the strings of failed Romances i have endured
her essence is my only true desire
with all the lines i have drawn across the sands of my logic
they have been scattered every fortnight
by the winds of my unreasonable emotions
the only part of her that belongs solely to me
is the warmth she leaves behind
on my rosey cheeks
everytime she kisses goodbye

ReplyDelete"...Guys dont go over/across the room to introduce themselves to ugly ass girls, yes their personalities might be the Bomb, but we are visually stimulating creatures, if a girl is ugly, we aren't that enthusiastic about the introduction and sustenance of correspondence." << Best.Sentence.Ever.
I don't think I personally have any hetero-hetero guy/girl friendships today that are completely platonic.. wait I do; I have 2 that I see as brothers. I do know of other people who claim they do ::Shrug::. I share your perspective on this topic. I don't believe any guy who shares a genuine interest in me is completely uninterested (unless they grew up with me as my bro's childhood friend and I was or they were at some point deemed untouchable.)
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI just nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award! Click this link see for yourself.

long time!!! Happy new year :P
ReplyDeletesoo this topic. I do not totally agree with you. Yes, there are a number of guys in my life I know are there cos it never worked, or I never gave them a chance.
BUT you know emotions die, attractions diminish too.. like I had been heads over heels for a very few boys and now I don't remember why I was even (tho we re still friends).... I believe same could apply to a boy. Just because he used to be into me doesn't mean he wants to sleep with me. there is moving on. Blocking things out.
Also, there are a few pple who both of you together is literally gross! some of them have become brothers... and like family!
---But the way girls and boys think is totally different
I am not in the school of thought of having lots of guy friends.
Ahahaha. I honestly have never compared it to platonic girl-girl relationships before but i was nodding my head almost all thru and smiling. Thanx for the insight. Very eye opening
ReplyDelete*Now suspicious of all my male friends* #grin
Some parts I agree with, others not so much. But good write-up and I really enjoyed the poem.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more. There is no such thing as a platonic friendship. If you're a woman and you have male friends you have no intention of sleeping with, all that means is you have someone you think is a friend who is thinking about smashing.
ReplyDeleteyou make a lot of good points, but i disagree with you. A guy and a girl can be platonic friends. Have you ever been so close to a girl that you see them like family? You wouldn't sleep with family right?
ReplyDeleteYea my point exactly lol.
I think you should rename this post 'WHY Men and Women can Never be FRiends -- The Male Perspective' because the females are always going to be the ones denying that this is the case.. as they have no idea what is inside the mind of the other party.. i.e. the males. I think that the ladies who disagree do so because of how they see their relationship with the men in their lives... i imagine that they imagine that those men can and do relate to them for the same reasons they do.. that is not always the case.
ReplyDeleteFrom my experience, many (though not all) men are not necessarily motivated to continue speaking to a girl just because they're "fun to be around" or "cool to talk to".. why? because some girl(s) that he would want to smash and can successfully do so with, will likely share those characteristic as well, so what is the motivation to keep you around if it's not for hopes that maybe one day he can with you?
@Niki.... you know i totally agree with you... there is a reason why we vibe soo well. Virtual Hi-fiving.
ReplyDelete@Dee thanks for the Award... though im almost certain i have done one of those awards previously... i would probably name the same ol things again, so i might as well refer people to that post instead. :)
@Abitobi... soo basically my Gist is that if he is attracted to you and he is your friend then he cant be your friend because he would Sleep with you if you ever give him the opporturnity, but if he isnt attracted to you anymore and he is your friend, then this is possible, but what that means is that he thinks you have either gotten uglier or fatter..... Basically in a nutshell.
@toin.... you need to be suspicious, Guys always have ultirior motives to friends who are girls.
@Myne... thanks for the compliment about the poetry. much Appreciated. :)
@MAX... yes Max, you are way level headed.
@BSNC... if this Guy is a friend who has been around you and he sees you as family, and he initiates hanging out with you and he always wants to be around you, then he prolly wants to smash, but if he is just someone who you know through families, you guys dont wanna hang out and discuss deep and superficial things like how all friends do, then he really isnt your friend, he is just a friend of the family that you have known for ages, and that doesnt necessarily mean he would not trying to sleep with you if you gave him the open or availability too.
The answer to your question can be given in so many ways. When it comes to the question of whether or not guys and girls can be just friends there is no universal truth. In some cases guys and girls can be the best of friends but in other cases any truly platonic relationship is virtually impossible.
